After he arrived at the station, Keith made a self diagnose, new oil for the motors, new cables for his eyes and a new weapon.
Then he goes to the ship, to make a system check. On his way he takes his battle gear and meets the pilot.
Keith: "Hey, captain Reynolds, what is the state of the main engine?"
Capt. Reynolds: "Hey Kummel, the main engine is purring like a kitten."
Keith: "Good, that means we can start in a few minutes?"
Capt. Reynolds: "Yeah, we only have to bring the flight computer online and we can go."
Keith: Well then, it's your ship, you board first."
Capt. Reynolds: "Thanks, co-pilot. You're a really nice guy."

Keith boards the ship.
Suddenly, Julo.
"This DOES NOT help!"

Director Jamison over Ship Intercom: Alright everyone, get into your crash seats and prepare for launch. Our destination is Yolousta. Our objective is to destroy 2 radar stations and 1 ground-based space defense railgun, in preparation for the UTS invasion of the planet to wipe out the insurgents there. ETA is 4 hours. Get your game faces on men. Jamison out.

Understood.

Lance prepared his weapons. He would bring his SMG and knife to the party. This was his first mission, so he was a bit nervous. A bit. The other side of him was shouting in triumph.

He walked over to the shuttle and after making brief introductions to the team, he strapped in and told the shuttle pilot he was ready over the intercom.

Markas took Judas' hand and shook it. "Darkas Hansen, but everyone calls me Markas." He stood back. "You're the new recruit?"

"Yes I am. Judas."

"Pleased to meet you. I'm your captain, but we all take orders from the Director." He paused. "Looks like it's time to go. I'll see you on the ground." Markas left the room for the shuttle bay.

Judas trundles over to the shuttle upon hearing the orders over the intercom, gives succinct 'hellos' to everyone in the team, and straps in. He notices a lanky man looking at him from the back of the ship.

*4 hours and 3 minutes later* Director Jamison on Ship Intercom: We have arrived at the destination. This drop is going to be different. Ya'll will be dropping in inside drop pods. The AA defense is to heavy for a single drop ship to go in without fighter cover. The drop pods have counter measures, so you should be fine. The drop zone is 1/4 of a mile wide and long. All objectives are 2 miles north-east of the drop zone. There is no time constraint on this op, so take your time. The pods launch in 6 minutes. Jamison out.

OOC: "Take your time" means a longer op than the last one.

Markas made sure he had everything, same gear as last mission, and stepped inside the pod. As captain, he would be dropped first.

The signal was given and the pod quickly dropped. Through his visor, he could see the conditions. Very heavy rain, and very heavy cloud cover. He knew this would be a challenge when the first AA defenses lit up the clouds. His pod jettisoned several countermeasures at the first wave of missiles, stopping his certain destruction. But then it failed. One of them jammed while firing, and the mechanism caught on fire. Markas gripped the pod as it began rumbling. Another wave of AA was closing, and the mechanism needed to clear... fast. He un-shouldered the gauss rifle and emptied several rounds into the mechanism. It appeared to be a lost cause, but it finally freed. The wave of AA was nearly defeated as they were intercepted.

Nearly. One missile made it through the screen. And the mechanism was reloading. It wasn't fully locked, but it was enough. The missile exploded 3 feet away from the pod, knocking out the engines and communication and sending it tumbling. Markas gripped the pod as it plummeted towards the ground. It smashed into the ground about a mile from the compound. No radio contact. No distress signal.

(Note he is not dead)

Lance took a look at his HUD. He saw as Markas' icon drop off the screen. He hissed as his pod, as well, came under heavy fire. Suddenly, a line of what appeared to be kinetic weapons fire slammed into his pod. His lips tightened. This looked like it was going to get nasty. A hole appeared in the plating. Then two. He saw his pod deploy a sensible amount of countermeasures that saved him from a shoulder-launched SAM. Without warning, the pod's blast doors ripped away after a particularly high-caliber round slammed into the pod door's hydraulics. He gripped tightly to his restraints, and by some miracle, his pod made it to the ground. He crawled out, and immediately contacted Jamison and the rest of the squad.

Judas forced some saliva down his throat as his tactical threat monitor noted the destruction of the two pods before his. His expression contorted into that of a grimace.

"All honor to you." He whispered, and braced for the inevitable fire from the surface.

It never came. Judas looked at the threat monitor and observed the destruction of yet another pod. This mission is bust, he thought, before a volley of missiles slammed into his own and buffeted the surprisingly fragile transportation medium into a lethal spin. Just the g-forces would indubitably kill him.

The Tien took a deep breath and struggled to calm his mind against the inertia that was slowly tearing his neurons apart, gripping his sword as he overrided the pod's safety, opened the hatch..

And jumped.

After hearing Lance's check-in, and seeing Markas' icon drop off-screen, Jamison cursed under his breath. "Sensor Officer, activate the emergency vital signs scanner on Captain Hansen. The scanner beeped, and the reading said that the sensor had been broken off at some point. But the record said that it had broken off a millisecond after impact, and that millisecond showed a heartbeat. Jamison let out a yell of excitement. "Jamison to all operatives, Markas is okay, repeat, Markas is okay. Recover him, then proceed to the AO, ASAP."
Turning to the budget officer, he said,"Next time we go in for downtime and ship stuff, get me some better drop-pods, or you're fired." He then turned to the operational readout, and waited for more transmissions and status updates.

Note: All the operatives are equipped with parachutes, for manual ejection from the pods. I should have said that sooner. So Tiel, your character has about a 95% chance of surviving with no injury.

OOC: Oh, goodie. I was totally going to use the rockets on my armor to smash a turret with my sword xD

edit: Oh wait, I totally removed that from my app. Well, good thing I have a parachute!

OOC: Let's say Markas' pod door was jammed by the missile explosion.

BIC:
Luckily for Markas, his emergency inertial compensation systems saved him from certain death. He broke several bones, of which he didn't know, but he could move fine. His armor was also compromised and just about useless, the rocket launcher was smashed, and his gauss rifle wouldn't respond. A power core must have been jarred loose. He opened it up, reconnected the core, and closed it. After confirming it works, he tried to contact HQ. No luck, all systems were down. He sighed, and shot through the lock of the pod. He then shoved it open.

He emerged in a large field. The rain was torrential. Luckily, it obscured his position from the convoy that happened to be passing, but they knew he was here. Markas could, with the aid of the barely-functioning sensors, several heavy tanks advancing to his position. Tanks armed with Harmonic Pulse Cannons. He would be torn to shreds, and he certainly couldn't take them on. But he was hidden by the rain.

He dropped from the pod and began running in the direction of the tanks, keeping low in the grass. He tried to activate several backup comm systems, which promptly failed, except radio pulse. But that would give his position away instantly. He couldn't risk it.
