The world of copyright is a realm of treachery. You don't really own anything, even the OS you're running on your computer.

Bring me the Mo' creatures now :/ , the latest is an example of jeb actually asking the creator of that mod to make the horses with him together.
That's a nicety. The fact of the matter is mod makers can't add a few lines of code to the game and suddenly declare that it's theirs; that'd be like painting a dong on the Mona Lisa and saying that it was indubitably created by you. In practically every circumstance the creator of the base on which a modification is made can do what they please with them without any legal repercussions - any argument made in court by a modmaker would not hold water at all. I believe the only reason they invited DrZhark was to get a handle on the code and integrate it more smoothly with Minecraft's, they were under no obligation to do so.

Given the nature of the content (virtual) and the manner in which it was made and the dependencies that make it possible, if these minecraft mod hosts were complete dbags there's very little Proto could do to force them to take the downloads down. He doesn't even have a Creative Commons license on the thing :/

Actually, the design for the AF-15 is mine, so although it is just an extension to minecraft, the AF-15 was designed by me, I own it's design, but that about it, I even had to change its name so that the name would be original.
But that is about it, and I couldn't be bother to try to puh legal action, it's not worth it,
But you are supposed to ask permission before you mirror anything, this applies to all minecraft mods, and there has been trouble over it.

And I am not trying to get these links taken down, I am simple asking that the original links be included.

I know. I'm not saying what they're doing is right. I just can't resist the chance to argue with Iv :P

I don't know about Potioncraft, Iv, but the pistons were a mod that was taken and incorporated pretty much verbatim into vMC.

The thing about the mod downloads is that although Prototype doesn't own the code, he does own the artwork. He created the skins for the planes himself, and burnttoaster created the weapons. That's their own stuff, and neither Notch nor anyone else has rights to it, and it is very clearly protected under copyright law. If it came to a legal fight, he could probably win, because that is definitely a violation, even though taking the code isn't. That's why the Better With Forge @#$% needed BTW to run—they had to have the BTW texture sheet, and they couldn't redistribute it themselves.

The problem I see is if we are getting this for the little Flan pack, then the problem would be 10x worse for FutureCraft, and assuming that we will use ads and stuff to generate money for the servers, if we get this problem, it will affect that, the only difference that we might have is Copernicus might be more covered by copyright laws than the Flan pack.

Encrypt it like crazy. Make it so the files have to be completed by something that verifies their source.

Wow, I had no idea a content pack would be redistributed so quickly.

If you remember this same problem happened with Stan's pack. It was stolen by some 8 year old, and the thing that tick me off the most, in his PMC post description he said "All the models were made by me and my friend". He used the same pictures Stan used. That is ridiculous, and a PMC mod took it down when they contacted. Proto, you should have the links taken down, and make sure you control everywhere it can be downloaded from. Don't let it get away from you.

With futurecraft it is easier as eventually only thing they can do is to download the launcher, the game itself is directly downloaded onto the comp and if you centralize the servers as you should no one else will be able to run or steal futurecraft if you do not allow him to.

Also @ Tiel forget the legal crap we both know that doing this is dirty though might be somehow allowed in some dirty way.

All but one credited me with it, and they changed the links and gave me credit when I asked them, unfortunately, to get them taken down, I would have to threaten legal action, these yellow bellies would all yelp if I did that, but I really don't want to.

And besides, I am the only one who can update this.

Also, there is some copyright stuff I can use, I'll try and add it now

This is what I should have put, but it is too late for this one, this is only first release, it isn't a huge problem, but the next one will have this

I just posted this to the site linked by Iv earlier.

I don’t know if you guys read this when you blatantly copied my good friend PrototypeTheta’s work, but I feel you should read this. Please note that a copy of this message has been made for reference. This is about the Flan’s expansion mod “Futurecraft”

I haven't posted that copyright on the main posts, I don't think it can apply yet, it was just an example.

I've also posted twice on that site, but, with the potential threat of a lawsuit you just fired at them, they will either back down, or confront us, the latter option is really bad.

I think the best option here, is rather than hunting each source down, is to protect it properly in future,

If they confront us, we have the advantage. While they can do absolutely nothing against us, we can do about everything. So confrontation isn't really a bad thing, and if worst comes to worst, you can say I was acting of my own initiative and I was given no instructions to do that, because I wasn't.

That's ok, the yellow bastards will probably back down, they simply deleted my previous two comments, but now you've shown them that, they might panic.

Only one person has has the balls to reply to me so far, and I can alway get the folks at Minecraft-SMP.de to chip in, they really don't like stuff like this, TheOrion had already started on these sites before I knew about them
