Bioshock Infinite SPOILER

Post by Laserbilly » Thu Apr 11, 2013 4:57 pm

So I just finished Bioshock Infinite and now I feel like I have to play it again.
Spoiler:
Because I didn't really get the ending. Have any of you guys finished the game and understood the it? Cause it went right over my head!

I've seen so many videos on BS:I that I really have no need to even play it.

That's too bad, because the game-end reveal was breath-taking, I just didn't really get the explanation that followed....

Spoiler:
Booker is the younger Comstock. Elizabeth drowns him at the baptism where he would have been "reborn" as Comstock. Excellent plot twist, really.
Now, it's up to you whether that actually worked or created a universe-ending paradox. The sequence leading up to that...
Spoiler:
is symbolic of the infinite number of parallel worlds there are, in which events unfold slightly different yet slightly the same. It's also meant to show you that 1) choice is an illusion(the fork in the bridge, leading to two different doors but the same result) and 2) Booker has repressed and replaced some of his memories.

That's the really short version, but the ending actually made a lot of sense to me.

Interesting. The way I saw it, Comstock and Booker were the same person at the same age - just different choices. Comstock is when he chose to get baptized. Booker is when he refuses.

It looked more to me like there was a second baptism, where Elizabeth was present (hence the looped gang of her) but the witnesses from the first one were not. That means it would be at a point in time after the events of the game. Your reasoning works too, though.
