Do they have a way to leave? No. Do they get paid? Other than basic necessities (Which should be provided for regardless), No. Can they advance? No. Can they make decisions? Your government makes them, so no. Even if they are content, a miserable free man is better than a content slave.
Re: Agreement against slavery
when working [lets call it that] they cant leave no
do they get paid? well yes in a way
each slave starts with some credit [this is no money] they get the credit for all things they carry with them
those things are sold by uss
when they start working they also get credit little but some
the more dangerous a job is the more credit they get
if they have enough credit they become a free crew member
but they still have to stay with the faction
so decisions they can decide where to work [if they behave]
can they advance yes from ... to crew member
do they get paid well sort of
and they also are content ....

Re: Agreement against slavery
I cannot go and convince you that slaves are bad, either you get it or not. There are no slaves in UTA space .
Also the definition of slave is much more complicated and less physical like you described Fenway.

Re: Agreement against slavery
yes we controll there entire way of life
that gives alot of mental stress i know that
but the fact is we have to live too
this is the only way for us of doing it
we have done it for generations and we will not stop suddenly

Re: Agreement against slavery
The TSRFM has mixed opinions toward slavery. It is generally frowned upon by the government, but there is no official legislation against it. Great Houses and Duchies sometimes use slavery, but in small amounts and usually for non-strenuous labor.

Re: Agreement against slavery
I love how you all have nothing against giant homocidal death robots, but a little slavery, and POW.

Re: Agreement against slavery
See robots can be simply exterminated. If it's network based there is nothing that can stop a hacker or maybe even another robot to get into the network and destroy your software. You can claim you have some super overpowered protective code or anti-virus but really there is nothing unhackable as long as it's linked to your network hardware-wise.

Re: Agreement against slavery
You underestimate our power, remember that an organic brain can be hacked as well, and most central processing units are semi organic, rather difficult to hack, the task would be akin to hacking the brains of your leaders. Otherwise the faction would be wiped out really easily, which is boring.Iv121 wrote:See robots can be simply exterminated. And organics have a virus problem as well, also a bacterial problem, and a few retroviruses
EDTI: we probably sound a bit OP, that is not the case, remember we are centred around one planet, and have a few other drawbacks.

Re: Agreement against slavery
I don't think you can hack into a mind. Moreover even if you could it's not enough to defeat all humans - their brains are not linked in a giant network. Plus if you plan to install organic brains into robots you might end up with feelings one day which is not ideal for robots ...

Re: Agreement against slavery
They already had emotions (AIs), a human brain would just make it easier to simulate and interpret them.

Re: Agreement against slavery
You confuse thinking and emotions. AIs can't feel feelings, they are limited to only rational thoughts. If the start to feel i'm not sure they fall under the category of "tools" robots belong to.

Re: Agreement against slavery
The giant robots aren't enslaved to anyone but themselves. Ergo, they don't fall under this agreement.
Oh, and enforcement is as simple as jumping a Ragnarok-class carrier into orbit and saysing "release them".
If not, it goes that hard way.
And Iv- while I can respect you not forcing your beliefs and values on others, there are a few exceptions I would make. Such things as slavery, war crimes, sovereignty violations (invasion), and other "capital" crimes.

Re: Agreement against slavery
so robots may be enslaved by robots or a all knowing robot mind
humans may enslave animals
humans may enslave robots
but robots arent allowed to enslave humans
and humans arent allowed to enslave humans
animals arent allowed to enslave humans
this isnt good
we discriminate robots and animals
humans may enslave animals

Re: Agreement against slavery
You're kidding, right?
Only senitent beings fall under this. I.E., intelligent, self-aware life. Robots don't fall under this (at least normally), nor do animals.
