Re: Kerbal Space Program
also... my plan to create a drop pod/escape pod with no large engines has succeeded with 3 seperatrons (the tiny boosters) and 3 rockmax engines attached to 3 of the teeny tiny wheel shaped fuel containers. The boosters only survive for about 5 seconds and the rockmax fuel engines last for about 10. The atmosphere slows the pod down to about 200 m/s at about 1000 meters above the ground. I wait until 600 meters to fire the boosters which slow it down to about 100 meters per second. Then I wait until I'm about 100 meters above the ground and I fire the rockmax engines. They bring me down to about 8 meters per second just as I hit the ground. As you can imagine, if I'm over mountains, there is NO chance of me surviving XD

Re: Kerbal Space Program
You could always use a poop Tom of RCS thrusters and see if that can slow it down.

Re: Kerbal Space Program
maybe. i know i can lift a command pod with only a few rcs thrusters but i think rcs tanks, even the tiny linear ones, would make the pod heavy.ACH0225 wrote:You could always use a poop Tom of RCS thrusters and see if that can slow it down.

It has a radio altimeter that gets the distance from the surface, not the sea level.CommanderKobialka wrote:wouldnt that just make it harder to see the ground?Keon wrote:Just do IVA.

I should point out reentry effects were added so my dropship looks incredible.

Re: Kerbal Space Program
deorboting space stations is no longer something frowned upon as the scientists and engineers at KSC find the reentry effects look quite cool.Keon wrote:I should point out reentry effects were added so my dropship looks incredible.
