Jacob unloaded some of his personal belongings in his room. From one of the boxes he pulled out a small canister made out of armored glass framed in steel. He put the canister on the table. A white label was on the lead of the canister with "NC-5" printed on it. He took out one of the wine bottles and filled a glass. Now all he has to do is to wait for the first scientist meeting.

Argynn Yllyieta has been granted access to the facility. Accommodations will be made to his living quarters to suit his needs. Also, care will be taken to prevent mint from coming near him.

//Back to Topic//

An officer looked up as the Tivra landed. He checked the sensors, acknowledged that it was one of the researchers, and left the control tower. He walked up to the man in the robe. "Here for the project are you?" He asked.

"Indeed. Now I would like to know..." The man started.

"We'll get to that." The officer scanned him with his holo-pad. "Jefferson Mckaren, correct?"

"Yes."

"I wasn't aware that you had escorts. They will have to submit their weapons for a check."

"That will be fine. Now, about the living quarters..." The officer stopped him again and handed him a holo-pad.

"This is your personal holo-pad, activated by your voice by the code you chose while en-route. It has all the schedules, assignments, maps, and software you should need. Your quarters are marked on the map."

"Excellent. Anything else I need to know?"

"You and your escort will have to report to the primary security station for a scan check. Also, we will be going through your cargo to prevent unwanted materials from coming in. Mostly scans, but occasionally we will have to open them. Once scanned, they will be delivered to your quarters."

"I don't have anything considered dangerous, so that's fine." Jefferson turned to his guards. "Well come on then, we have places to be going." He began walking toward the security checkpoint. The officer stood there for a moment before returning to the control panel, awaiting the next arrival.

The delta-shaped civilian craft appeared in a swirling disk of crimson light a few hundred thousand kilometers from Kalii II. It fired its engines and began to move to the planet.

"This is the Syyrtiv, carrying a VIP to Kalii II, over"

"This is Kalii II landing control, please show IFF and proceed to landing bay"

The ship sent out a broad-wave IFF tag and swept down to the landing bay. The ship, only about 100 meters in length, opened its bay doors an out flew one Argyyn Yylyieta, followed by one large, armored escort.

The officer had just sat back down in the control tower when another ship arrived, indeed carrying another researcher. He mumbled something and left the control tower. He spotted Argynn and walked over to him. "I presume you are here for the project, correct?" He asked. The owl swiveled to look at him.

"Yes." The owl replied. The officer quickly scanned Argynn to verify his identity, and then handed him a modified holo-pad.

"This is your holo-pad, modified to accommodate for your physiology. It is voice-activated, the code being the one you chose en-route to this facility. It has organizational software, as well as any information you will need for the facility, such as access codes and maps. Your living quarters are marked on it." He paused. "We will also send out schedules and news updates through the pad, so check it regularly."

"Anything else I should know?"

"You will have to submit yourself and any cargo for a security check before you will be cleared for entry to the facility. Standard procedure." He then noticed Arygynn's escort. "I didn't realize you had such an escort."

"Is that a problem?" Though the officer couldn't tell, it seemed the owl was glaring at him.

"Well, yes. We allow a maximum of three escorts for researchers, and they may not enter testing chambers with them. The rest of the escort can either remain with the ship, leave, or be rotated into standard NeoRoman security duty. It is your decision, and theirs." He motioned to the escort and waited for Arygynn's reply.

A Bobcat battle ship jumps in to the star system and starts heading towards the planet.

Kayntor: Don't you think it would have been better to travel here in something that is maybe a bit smaller. Ya know like a Lion, those things are ment to stay out in space for months.
Ship Pilot: Yeah but for all we know this could be a trap. (Over the comm) OK everyone make sure all guns are under manual control and be ready to fire Jump Drive Missiles.
Kayntor: Lets try not to blast them to the next galaxy ok?

Ship Warps in

Ship Pilot: Ok I don't see any signs of trouble, get to your shuttle, and make sure you have at least a pistol in you coat.
Kayntor: I don't think any weapons are needed.
Ship Pilot: JUST TAKE THE DAMN PISTOL!
Kayntor: Alright Alright!

Kayntor makes his way to the shuttle, gets on and flies off of the battleship and on to the planet.

Name- Shi'Nakar

Species- Feles

Age- 236 standard Terran years.

Gender-Female

Empire of Origin- TSRFM

Role- Xenopsychologist, neurologist, and biologist, field medic and psychotherapist

Prior Experience- Medic during Shi-Dukil Fissure, more than fifty years of experience in neurological research and psychotherapy.

Personal Background- 'Nakar has had a fascination with other forms of intelligent life since her earliest remembered thought. Being a descendant of a rather land-wealthy branch of the Shi' duchy, and an intelligent one, she could have had any form of training and education she wished. However, she was not able to take advantage of these circumstances in herearly years. During 'Nakar's young adulthood, the Shi-Dukil Fissure occurred and she was pressured into joining the Shi Militia. She served a medic during the two-year dispute, until the TSRFM military was forced to intervene and settle what had nearly become a civil war. The Dukil splintered from the Shi duchy, and both clans were stripped of much of their monetary power. After the division, 'Nakar studied at the University of Mundum, earning several degrees relating to xenosentience and biology. She has used these degrees to forge an admirable reputation among the scientific community.

Personality- Moderately reclusive, but more sociable than others of her species. 'Nakar is known to be a rather powerful enemy, she has a peculiar ability to twist one's mind.

Shi'Nakar has been granted access to the facility. Accommodations will be made to her living quarters in order to provide for her needs.

Cambles Korrimann will be monitored for excessive use of psionic abilities when not required, but is also granted access to the facility. Also, unless the background is submitted, then personality tests are in order.

The control tower operator sighed and looked at the radar screen. One shuttle coming in, two going out, and another ship requesting landing. He contacted the ship.

"This is NeoRoman Kalii II Control tower, please transmit IFF data and mission," he said.

"IFF data transmitted, mission is to deliver Dr. Kelly to the project," the ship replied. The operator checked the IFF, saw it matched, and then checked the landing pads. One of the shuttles had meant to have already left, but the mechanical clamp refused to disengage.

"IFF data approved. One of our landing pads is blocked and the next departure isn't for another 45 standard minutes. Please remain in a holding pattern until a pad clears up."

"Roger, holding." The channel clicked off.

The operator checked the radar again and noticed a small blip not noticed previously on the sensors. Before he could identify it, it converged with the shuttle coming in. An alarm went off at this point. He quickly pulled up a detailed sensor map. Whatever it was, it had collided with the incoming shuttle. And the shuttle was going down. And it was carrying the researcher Kayntor. The operator scrambled and grabbed a communicator.

"This is control tower, yellow alert. An unidentified object has just collided with shuttle designated DE-3, carrying VIP Researcher Kayntor. Scramble search and rescue, coordinates uploaded to the craft." The sensors began violently beeping. At least 10 other blips appeared on the screen. A military officer ran up to him, looked at the screen, and then snatched the communicator.

"Alert, the facility is under attack by an unidentified attacker! 10 missiles coming from bearing 280, impact in 5 seconds! Scramble the fighters, alert command and brace for impact!" Markus walked in at this point.

"What the hell-?" he started, before he was cut off by a deafening explosion. Markus fell to the ground as the room violently rocked, accompanied by screeching metal. Several blast doors sealed nearby.

"Sir, we have severe damage in the living quarters on all levels, the docking bay, and the viral research area!" The operator said. He looked at the sensors. "Fifteen more missiles are incoming, 30 seconds!"

"Activate the god damn shields already!" The officer said. When the operator gave him a blank stare, the officer pushed him aside and slammed his fist on the console. Seconds later, a pale, transparent blue dome arced up over the facility. The missiles struck it seconds later, causing ripples as the explosions attempted to pierce the dense shield. It held. The radar registered another blip, but this missile was not aimed at the facility. It was aimed at empty space.

The operator looked at the sensor console. "Sir, the fighters have targeted a ship not on our sensors. It should appear momentarily..." The blip disappeared, revealing a much larger signature. "What... That's the NeoRoman missile frigate Halifax! What the hell?" The officer looked at the sensor.

"Terrorists. They just tried to assassinate incredibly important persons in the facility! Trying to-" The officer was cut off by Markus, who stepped to the sensors.

"It's not terrorists," he said. "It's the virus. The virus is attempting to defend itself, leading to the conclusion that it somehow escaped out containment." He strolled up to the communicator and dialed the viral research area. "When was the Virus last tested?" He asked.

"Approximately 30 minutes ago," the lab responded. Markus nodded and turned to the operator.

"When did you last see the Halifax?"

"Maybe 30 minutes ago sir," the operator responded.

"Precisely. So we know it is sentient and actively attempting to breach containment." He paced around the room. "We will have to counter it further." The communicator reported a message, and the officer opened it.

"We just got a report from security," the officer said. "No casualties in any area, but we have a few injuries from shrapnel in the landing bay." Another message. "The rescue team has also located the downed shuttle. The hull is intact, it appears only the engine and wing was hit. Extraction is underway."

"Good, good," Markus stated. "We should be back to running in no-" He was interrupted by an urgent beeping from the sensors. Weapon locks.

"Sir," the operator started. "The Cavnin battleship has all of its weapons locked onto our facility." The communicator then went off. The operator reluctantly picked it up, and turned to Markus.

"The pilot is on the line. They want answers, and they want them now."

"Control tower to Two seven, all landing bays are full or blocked due to a recent attack," the operator replied. "You may have to remain in holding pattern for several hours until a landing bay is cleared. Apologies for the inconvenience." The operator sighed and turned off the communicator. This was bad for their reputation. Several empires may pull out their scientists, and we don't want that. Not at all.
