I want you to realize something-no one uses jump nodes. Strigiforme forces cut through dimensions and therefore direction doesn't matter, and plenty of other people use slipspace, which is a watered down version. As far as I know, only Star Wars and Star Trek based FTL drives use any sort of nodes or such.
Also, Tiens are able to make so many ships because their special tech is hyper powered shipyards.

Re: Fenway's Super Official Super RP
The question is not how fast you make them (your shipyards) but if you can maintain them money wise and crew wise. Overall there are 2322 ships in this battle with overall crew numbers of 1,948,500. at this rate the avg size of overall crews in the galaxy reaches around 9,742,500 people, congratz on mobilizing the whole galaxy as in theory there is also a need of 19,485,000 people to maintain the fleet with overall 29,227,500 people enlisted in the NAVY, we can assume that the overall force will be around 43,841,250 people ...
This is insane people ...

Where did we get crew numbers from?
And the problem here is a majority of these ships don't even exist, crew counts are inconsequential if the ship itself hasn't been designed yet.
The statistics section was a good idea, but they were never delegated impacts on how an empire performs in the RP. Later, some were, but no one resubmitted their dossiers so it was nigh impossible to enforce the new effects (assuming here).
Basically, we've all been pulling stuff out of our butts this entire time, and only now is someone realizing the underlying problems with the logic behind it all. That's insane.

Re: Fenway's Super Official Super RP
Well I never did. I came with a mere dreadnaught and like 50 ships and actually began to work on EE as it had the lowest social ranking while having the biggest benefit to me. Yea you might ant to reset that thing and make sure there are specific rules agreed among us.
I brought the numbers from my understanding of the crews. I categorized the ships into 4 groups - large capship (Like dreadnaughts), small capships (Cruisers, battleships), frigates and corvettes. I gave each group my assumption of crew requirements and took out the calculator. While it is surely inaccurate it is the best estimate we ca get, and the inaccuracy between the ships (Overthrew there, not enough there) will overall balance itself and result in more accurate data.

I sent 51 ships... plus 2 I already had there. Thats 53 and I thought that sounded like 1/2 to 1/3 of my whole. You guys are the ones mobilizing the f***in galaxy.

Re: Fenway's Super Official Super RP
The problem is when the time comes to calculate the outcome.
Iv has all of his ships, and you can draw a line of inference with ACH's. The rest of us?
Not so much.
Cavnin pulls in 400 drone carriers, practically completed in under a galactic week?
I suddenly have three SUPERdreadnaughts?
And where the flipping heck are EE's battlestations coming from?
etc.
There are pretty clear gaps in logic here, but up to this point in time nearly no one has found quarrel with our blatant violation of common sense save for Iv.

Re: Fenway's Super Official Super RP
I have explained where my ships come from. The Aigaion is a super secret super ancient ship, and all the others were lying around because we weren't attacking anyone. Most large empires would have a standing army anyways. We also need a battle map, as some ships are behind fenways shield. Like the battle stations.

Re: Fenway's Super Official Super RP
I don't see any problem with your numbers. Not only is it a plot device, you also have a perfectly legitimate explanation for them that was accepted by the GM when you applied.

Re: Fenway's Super Official Super RP
Yes, but now there are 2500 ships in this battle. There were, what, 15 in the previous one? You need to pick a scale, Star Trek (Wolf 359; 40 ships) or Star Wars (Coruscant; >3000 ships).

Re: Fenway's Super Official Super RP
I am beginning to see the logical breakdown here.
But there are problems with making it more realistic. VERY BIG PROBLEMS. Mainly due to complexity and user error and time problems and stuff. Only solution would be for people to track every ship and complicated regulations at the fundamental level.
The only solution would be to abandon this RP and create a new one after extensive user drafting and stuff. I'll make something like that. It'll take a long time and won't be fun though.
Also, I see NO REASON why fleet size should be tied to empire size. It's like saying a massive, thinly spread, low tech, low military empire (Size score 10) should have 10x more ships than a super advanced, super powerful, super small (Size score 1) empire, meaning the larger empire always wins through sheer numbers alone.
Also, EVE had a battle of 2800 (Yes 2800 individual ships) once due to a misclick error. Estimated damages: $150,000

EDIT: Why is the youtube thing broken?
I expect this will look like this, almost exactly.

Re: Fenway's Super Official Super RP
I figured that people wouldn't send huge fleets, and that it would be about equal because lots of people with middling fleets vs huge fleet. Instead, everyone sent hundreds of ships in fleets equal in size to the invading one, and screwed everything up, making the Aigaion need to be even more OP to compensate.

I think one of the main problems we have is that noone ever made clear how "big" and "small" is defined.Professor Fenway wrote:I am beginning to see the logical breakdown here.
