I dunno.
The biggest obstacle would be a half-decent space generator - the one's I've seen are outdated/broken/nonexistent. There's Terraincontrol which this guy who can't english made a nice 'space' biome for, but he charges money to take a look at how it works.
Alternatively, Sci Fi Skylands :P
