Nice antenna.
What are you gonna use it for?

Nice, I never thought about using measuring tape for that. I and my dad built one out of analog TV antennas a while back for 2MHZ IIRC, what frequency are you using again?

Ham radio (more specifically, ham radio satellites. In space. Yeah.).

144MHz, i.e. 2m VHF. I haven't actually added the coax yet (plan on using RG-8X with a BNC connector), but I plan on using it with my handheld once I do. I live in a mountainous area and there's a decent-sized hill between myself and the nearest repeater, so it's pretty much necessary. Plus there's the satellites.

I got the measurements from here.

Also, CMA, can I get your callsign again? I'm getting my license in March and may be able to access a repeater in your area from here.

Sure: KK4ATQ. Also, I meant 2M/144MHz, not 2MHz, it's been a while.

Ah. I see now. What is with your sudden love for ham radio anyway?

It's not sudden; I've been trying to get my license for at least a year, and since I'll be taking the exam in early March, I'm somewhat excited. This tends to happen sometimes. Plus, I like building random shit, so.

Not sure if I should be reaching for my tinfoil hat

Wouldn't affect anything, I doubt you could reach England(:DDDDD) on 144MHz.

For a matter of fact, it is physically impossible for EM waves to effect thoughts, as they would end up stimulating all parts of the brain equally and therefore not having any mind-control effect IF it was possible to interfere with human brains that way. Tinfoil hats are therefore ineffective.
If you insist on mind-control waves, well, it's propably some other kind of energy where they actually hide its existance to prevent countermeasures.

Ironically, a tinfoil hat of average size and construction actually amplifies radio waves at some government-controlled frequencies. Not that they'd be able to affect anything, but still.
