I found this really interesting, thank you for sharing.
@CMA Not really, seems like more of a playful overview of how extraterrestrial life would see us if they didn't happen to share most of our attributes. And you can't really deny most of what's there is true, either.
Then again it's one of my core beliefs that society and the hated gubberment is what keeps humans going in the right direction, so not exactly impartial here.

It's fun that we assume that an alien invasion would destroy humanity when there's a chance an alien invasion would lead to the destruction of whatever race tried to invade us.
We'd kill the invaders, reverse-engineer and adapt their technology, go to wherever they came from, kick their asses and strip their planet for resources.

That's the plot of The High Crusade, tl;dr medieval Englishman take over our arm of the galaxy within a generation. Technology =/= intelligence. On top of that, I doubt any aliens we'll ever find will be similar enough to have any sort of meaningful interaction with, let alone a war.
Anyway, my problem with the video is that it assumes the aliens are basically Mlp-tier in terms of harmony and crap, which is unscientific to say the least.

Yea plus our sad human example shows that when two civs meet together when one is more advanced than the other, the more advanced one tends to annihilate the less advanced one.

I think dolphins are sentient, but simply haven't developed any tech due to lack of limbs capable of using tools.
