I have noticed a considerable lack of topics on food. Please discuss your favorite meals an what you have recently placed within your mouths(people who eat with IV tubes cannot participate).
Recently, I pilfered an owl desert known as piirl from the desert list. Piirl is similar to halva. This piirl was filled with mossk'va, another treat made of a special type of leaves crisped in a sauce that renders them sweet and delicious. In short, it was tastiness.

Re: Food topic
The best meal I ever have (every day
) is the one after school . Everything I eat is quite usual.
A military field ration consists of two slices of bread + one canned Tuna per person in addition to a small box of olives, some chocolate so thick it almost broke the plastic knife that came with it, some halva and other crap that is shared between everyone, all packed in a 3Kg box per 4 people. You are expected to eat it in under 20 minutes in field conditions, use the box as a table and the bread as a plate, putting every single thing you plan to eat on it. All in all it wasn't too bad and as a reward for getting the time record in the base for transferring the packs from the kitchen storage to the gate area we got two small ketchup bags , yey
. Nice times at that military promotion base .
Which also reminds me that when my parents came to see us marching on the fourth day they brought me a big freaking hamburger (just like pretty much all of the parents
), I ate it in under five minutes and it was as tasty as whatever I eat after school
.

I don't know about the ones Iv gets, but British army ration packs are surprisingly nice, though I'm not sure if it was actually chicken.

Iv121, I'll take it you are a cadet, in a CCF or something.

Re: Food topic
Military rations in the Cuuyth military were god awful. Most of them were cheap things of a tortilla-type flatbread, a few herbs, a small slab of meat, and a fruit or two. We usually tried to buy some from whatever town we were in, but we usually only were able to get the cheap ration deserts for our fruits. Other times, we were given just the flatbread and a sauce that tasted vaguely of urine and blood.

This is what I'm talking about!

Re: Food topic
Never eat space food if you can possibly avoid it. I'm talking about the dehydrated stuff they send (or sent, anyway; I think it's better now) with astronauts. That stuff stays exactly as good as it was when it was packaged for years by starting out really bad. I tried an ice cream sandwich once. O_O. Do not make the same mistake.

Stuff tastes terrible. Just dehydrated cream stuck between two far-too-dry crackers flavored with something that tastes like off-chocolate.

Re: Food topic
No the reason I ate those field rations is couse as part of a promotional program students of the 11th grade stay for 5 days in a real military base specifically designed for it. See there are some problems with desertion as eventually if you don't want to serve you will find a way to avoid it or maybe even prefer to sit in jail so they try to show that army is cool, and they did a neat job with it I might add. Basically students pass there a quickened recruit training (including field trips (where we ate those packs) and shooting ). And yes that means that eventually I will serve too and I do plan to be a cadet in the officer training school as part of special program.

Re: Food topic
Well, I guess you´ve gotta go to military eventually if that´s what your country tells you.
However, I might have good chances of getting stamped as "not fit for military training" in my country, thus escaping serving 6 months of my life for exactly nothing.
Sure, they say 1,000,000 Austrians are capable of being enlisted at any time, but they don´t even have that many guns...
