Steampunk vs Dieselpunk

So... a few days ago I sent a text to a friend of mine asking for inspiration for a science fiction story I am writing. He told me to look up images of steampunk style warships. I took a good long look at them and ultimately decided no, because whilst looking up steampunk, I discovered dieselpunk which I was immediately in love with. So I've created this topic to see which one the general population of the Futurecraft Forums likes the best. Both steam and dieselpunk styles portray the future as the artist imagines it, if the past had taken a different turn. Steampunk is what style Bioshock: Infinite is in. As the name suggests, steampunk is a turn on the days just before the discovery of the uses of electricity. Below is the city of Columbia from Bioshock: Infinite.

Dieselpunk has a very 40's - 50's style look to it. Below are several examples of both steampunk and dieselpunk. When you are finished looking, please vote on which one you like most!

Dieselpunk.
It´s about 1000% more realistic and gives you more design options through the usage of electricity in your story.

For me they are both steampunk. For that matter I only divide it into realistic, steampunk and cyberpunk, there is simply no reason to divide any further or we might invent a style for each individual artwork ...
Dishonored - Steampunk by the definition of the lead designer. Has electricity , a lot of it. It's not the diff between both, or diselpunk is part of steampunk

The main difference seems to be that Dieselpunk uses diesel and gas engines instead of steam engines and that Dieselpunk has access to minor electronics.
(imagine the first generation of computers, you know, those paper tape things)

Basically take steampunk and replace airships with giant planes while replacing all fireboxes with fuel tanks and the chimneys with exhausts and a little less visible mechanical parts and everything a bit more aerodynamic and dress the people like in the 1950s instead of like in the 1890s.

Fallout is Atompunk, because it is based on the fact that transistors weren't invented and fission stuff became super popular.

My only question is why is all this stuff called X-punk? I mean I have never seen any punks in any of these genres.

Don't know, but from where this topic goes I can say we ARE going to give every single game or piece of art it's own genre ... Atompunk ? Is there anything in this genre besides fallout ? BTW dishonored is also not exactly steampunk, I guess it's whalepunk couse it's all powered on whale oil ...

The Steampunk is marvelous.

Dieselpunk is amazing!

SOlarpunk [Wall-E] is to good to.

Steampunk: I like because its very oldy and mechanical with steamcomputers, seeing then try to make danm airships with that
Diesel: Is good because of the good old 50 cars, people with 50 clothes and that.
Solar: Is good because of "EVA?"
