A recently uploading video to YouTube that is relevant to what we're doing here: Programming. It's true that most schools don't teach programming classes, however being a student of the Academy of Information Technology, my school isn't like most schools. Enjoy the video, and I hope you guys learn to program as well.

Also, please take the time to fill out the petition.

A friend of mine visits an "Informatik HTL".
It would translate to english like "IT higher technical education center".
So, he learns programming there...

If an intro programming class is going to become mandatory, it's just going to be taken by a bunch of people who don't want to be there, and the curriculum will be dumbed down even more than it already is. You can't force people to learn from things they don't care about.

That's true of any course, though, be it history or maths or language or science or whatever. There're always people who don't want to be there and don't understand why they need to learn stuff. They've been reasonably successful at hammering those subjects into students for a long time. Why should programming be different?

Well much you remember from that hammering ? I'd fail my history exam now that I'm done with it even though I know it alright. Problem is that I know the interesting bits in the history, the rest is just trash that I don't need and so I delete it after the exams. In average people remember 10% of what they studied at school (see what my brain is trashed with ?). Turns out those 10% were somewhat helpful ...

I have the benefit of still being in school.
Sometimes I even know more than our teachers because I read scientific articles.
Only problem is Latin. Man, that language annoys me.

You shouldn't make CS required. You should make it an elective at least as common as Spanish or Art.
