You have not even entered the realm of insanity. In fact, you are not even close.
What if I told you that light acts as both a wave AND a particle at the same time... but when observed, it doesn't. The double slit experiment.
Lets take a look at wave interference. When two waves from different sources collide, they create a pattern, known in physics as interference in wave propagation. This creates alternating bands where wave concentration is the highest. Now to the quantum level!
An experiment was set up where photons were fired, one at a time, through slits. In the first iteration there was only one experiment, and the photons behaved as hypothesized, as particles. But when they added another slit, this wave interference began to appear. The only explanation was that the photon got through the slit, went through both, and interfered with itself, which means it would be a wave, not a particle. So they set up a device to record this happening. When they did this, the photons behaved as particles again, and the interference pattern disappeared.
This illustrates Wave-Particle Duality and the Wave Function Collapse.

I wouldn't say quantum mechanics is totally insane.
This, is what I call insane.
Hi I'm Prototype and welcome to jackasss
