You never watched Star Trek?
*raises hand*
I didn't. Am I now excluded from the nerd club? Do I have to talk to people and get one of those... whaddyacallem... girl friends?

TBH by the time I got interested in sci-fi, they were primarily broadcasting the Next Generation around here, but I've watched the movies, so I have at least seen some original Spock

I prefer TNG over TOS, but I watched the originals when I was little. Spock was my favorite character. Now, though I don't enjoy the show as I used to, I still appreciate how it affected American culture. Shatner and Nimoy fought for Nichelle Nichols' equal pay during a very sensitive era.

Nimoy was also a poet, author, voice actor, singer, teacher, and had a pretty large acting career outside of ST.

He's... I... damn. I could only list maybe a dozen actors off the top of my head, but Nimoy would be on that list. I can't imagine how you've managed to operate in such a science fiction-dense environment without seeing that at some point.

Well honestly I don't really care who are the actors behind the characters and hardly know any of em for the matter. Nimoy popped up for me some time ago when I looked some stuff up so I recall the name but otherwise I doubt I would have linked him to Spock otherwise, it just doesn't matter for me.

I didn't know we were able to turn a RIP thread into an argument.
Shame on all of us.

*two or three of us.

Anyway, posting about arguing in a RIP thread is no way to get rid of arguing in a RIP thread. Only way is to ignore it or turn an argument into something about the subject, who, in this case, was undoubtedly a great actor that helped shape science fiction and the culture surrounding it into what it is today. I'm glad he had a a role in the new movies. Didn't he voice the "Final Frontier" theme for one of them?
