I feel it's not an unwillingness to let people in, Jedi- I get the idea that its more of a 'We have been here, in some cases, 4 years, and we're not changing our behavioral habits or mode of typing just to accommodate one new guy.'

That might drive folks off, but as Proto said, odds are it was more of a 'They have other things that they do,' not that we're all sitting behind the metaphorical spiked walls and glaring at newbies.
