Hypothetically your in a real life situation. Suddenly two of your researchers come up to you. One is claiming how mechs are really great and you should use mechs while the other is loading a revolver to shoot at him.

What do you choose? Mechs or Tanks?

Found some mechy fanboys. Better check if theirs any infestation here.

Realistically, mechs kind of suck.
They are more expensive, complicated and vulnerable than tanks with no real benefits.

Mobility, mechs can acess areas tanks cannot, but that doesn't mean that tanks are obsolete, in fact they both can co-exist quite well because they just have different roles and very little overlap.

I do feel like most areas inaccessible by tanks can be accessed by helicopter, though.

Helicopters are very expensive to operate and thus have to be deployed on-demand. A mech could accompany infantry directly.
I will listen to this guy

Bipedal mechs are a far away thing; any we see soon will be 3 or 4 legged.

Well, the japanese obvioulsy want bipedal ones and the American ones are unmanned and thus don't technically classify as mechs, so maybe bipedal mechs are actually not /that/ far off.

If I'd have to choose, tanks. Mechs could also work but they'd be rather flimsy. Basically what Iv said^

EDIT: Don't let Mercury Steam/Catsonmeth get involved in this. He's one.

Practicality: Tanks

Badassery: Mechs

Although in Flan's mod at least, Mechs trump everything, even the really OP tanks just can't hold a candle.

Though small, light mechs could prove very useful with their mobility. Big mechs would get roflstomped in direct combat. Unless, of course, your mech is a goddamn Titan, then always pick the Titan:

Because fuck your baneblade.

'Cause mechs are hillariously overpowered.

We need a tank with the proportions of a baneblade with the height of an imperator titan. You know we do.

Scuse, assembling a scaled-up Baneblade with a starship-grade lance battery.
