The Imperium is aware the Empire currently is leading in technological advancement in warfare-related, only surpassed by the Novans and AUF. Except, unlike the Novans we have a large amount that can only get larger, and unlike the AUF we didn't just pick up the NeoRoman's mantle.

The Imperium has a a lot of ships with very powerful weapons. I don't care how advanced you are, if you have 1200+ ship fleets attacking you with everything from lasers to planet-busters, you're going to take a very, very heavy beating.
