Star Wars is only as soft as you're willing to suspend your disbelief on the explanations.

I don't really mind "soft" SciFi.
It's science fiction for a reason, everything does not need exact explanation and numbers, then it'd just be science.
But yeah, Star Wars is pretty much the definition of soft SciFi.

Star Wars is a space opera. The characters, plot, etc. are more important than the concepts, meaning that things that wouldn't work do work because they're cool if you don't try to think about them.
