Since everyone seems to have gone pessimistic emo about futurcraft not really having a snowballs chance in hell in coming out within our lifetime unless microsoft decides to go on an indie modding project support spree. Why dont we try something bit closer to immediate results but not quite to close to new colors of grass?
Surely we could cobble something like BTW together and make a little stable community platform to beg for gain the support of other modders.
Just a random thought, Making doodles with more indef thoughts of a BTW lookalike idea.

Well let's begin with the first hole in your plan - modders, in order to make something you need modders, you got modders ? Frost won't work on projects like that based on his own words and although I could try doing modding I dont really have time for it right now. As for the rest of the community you can ask them if you want but analytically speaking I dont expect you to be able to gain an active modding team.

That's a fairly stupid statement given that it remains one of the longest-lived and most popular mods around.
Futurecraft. We're all here for science fiction. This is a bad idea.

I don't like BTW, but I agree with LJS for the most part. That said, a modpack wouldn't be such a bad idea.

Trying to make a simple mod in the short term wouldn't be a bad idea. Hell, it'd make a good programming exercise.

That's sort of what I was getting at with the Java learning thing. Any sci-fi project really, I'm (attempting and failing at) trying to port Traveller ship generation and combat to a 3D Java application, we just need to spam Original Content until someone notices us. I'll start:

I've been coding for awhile for bukkit plugings. But making a mod is a bit harder then making plugins but I'm ready for the challenge. The only reason I stopped attempting to make mods was because I couldn't making any textures..

How about we not, and keep this on topic instead for a change?
