"Why don't foreigners use X " is a very American thing to say. Also, I didn't know that, I thought they were in NATO.Ivan2006 wrote:What are you talking about, CMA?
We have far to many socialist policies to be associated with America.
BTW, fun fact: Austria was one of the few coutries in Europe which didn't pick a side in the Cold War.
However, that is mostly due to the part where in exchange for the allied forces removing their troops from Austria in 1955, Austria was damned to eternal neutrality.
We like that tho. It makes having the worst military in all of Europe sound less of a horrible idea. It also got us the IAEA after the US and USSR couldn't agree on any better place. (because everyone else had an allegiance and noone wanted it in a country that was friendly to the enemy)
NATO? The main reason Austrians dislike EU military cooperation is that we might have to join NATO. You get lots of neutrality here. In fact, I heard Vienna was quite the spy capital in the cold war due to being a save haven for spies and double agents of both sides.CMA wrote:"Why don't foreigners use X " is a very American thing to say. I'm opposed to centralization in general, you could call me a pan-Nationalist I guess.Icelandic Perehelion wrote:What's wrong with NATO and the EU?
Sort of, it's hard to explain. tl;dr I think people do better when things are local and your family has a history where you live, if that makes sense.Icelandic Perehelion wrote:...ah. Any particular reason for that, or just kind of how you view things?
