How easy is it to downgrade a gas blowback pistol? I found one that I quite like that's fairly cheap and seems to have good reviews just about everywhere, but the stock FPS (~500 with 0.2g BBs) is just too damn high. For some perspective, that sniper you recommended is only 460 FPS.

You can go the slavshit route, which is always a good option, or you could go the Fudd route, which would be to buy hunting guns and actually hunt instead of just shooting things.

If you want to hunt you need to get a hunting license which probably costs money, and idk about the US but here in Norway you need to be at least 18 years old to buy weapons.

The main reason I'd like to get into airsoft rather than buying real guns is that you can shoot airsoft guns at people without being imprisoned for several decades. I've already got a 20ga. shotgun I can use for skeet shooting, anyway. Not to mention the cheaper ammo.

In Georgia, you can shoot hogs without any gubmint interference at all, and a 4 year old can legally own a firearm, just not buy one. Same goes for flamethrowers, but until you're 12 you need parental supervision. Not even joking.

Yeah 400 is the top for most airsoft places, even for rifles. With that power and blowback, you'll go through gas ridiculously fast. Not sure if there's an easy way to downgrade, it'd probably be more expensive than buying a better gun with more features (or just a cheaper gun). One guy that I used to do airsoft with had a 500FPS sniper (this one, I think) and it easily left large welts at 100 yards.
