And then there is the ultimate Ubercannon
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schwerer_Gustav
drawback: it needed special rail tracks especially built for this special cannon in order to move and took 30-45 minutes to reload

Don't tell anybody, but to this day I have a faint hope for Futurecraft, or something similar to it, to happen. Within my lifetime.

The Nazis were horrible, but they made really neat planes.

Well, it is a historical fact that they tried to make flying saucers (tho never managed to succeed) and both built the predecessor of all cruise missiles (V-1) and the first ballistic missile (A-4/V-2), they also had the best tanks in the world back then (although their low numbers diminished the effectiveness of their superiority) as well as being the only operators of assault rifles (StG-44). They also had an in-development version of what would have been the first guided SAM. Not to mention their engineers later ended up becoming basically the entire high-level staff of NASA.

The Russians challenged the German tank industry pretty well in their tank models (Their KVs were actually better than the german PZ4s of that time and later on when the Germans sent the tigers to the front lines the Russians developed the IS which was nicked "Tiger hunter"). Only prob was that they mainly produced T34s that although a great tank for the price and quantity ,it was not too good compared by combat capabilities, also the Americans had an assault rifle. Another thingie BTW is that they went in the totally wrong direction with the nuclear bomb.

In fact most of 40k is super high-tech. It's just contemporary humans then don't understand their tech anymore.
