As the moon is noone's property and is impossible to claim as property, there is no one you could buy it from.
The option of "SCREW THE RULEZ! I am on the moon and threatening the earth with mass drivers and nukes and you don't have a single weapon capable of hitting me." is actually more realistic than buying.
Fun fact: in order to hit the earth from a retrograde position on the moon, you have to fire a projectile at ~1023 m/s straight up. (varies depending on your position in orbit and what spot on the earth you're targeting)
Alternatively, you can use a missile with the according Dalta-v. This can easily be achieved with any missile available ever. Problem is making it fly straight tho, as fins don't work in space.
However, a tank cannon is capable of those speeds as well.

So just build a series of kinetic impactors with RCS and guidance systems, and blam, problem sorted.

Basically what I'm saying is you could hit the earth from the moon using tanks.
Which you propably can afford if you can get to the moon.

Only issue is tank sheels are unguided and may not survive reentry. Impactors are kinda designed for that.

Part of my eveel plan is to construct a power monopoly on earth with my super cheap nuclear helium 3 power therefor putting all politics into a neck hold under the threat of losing electricity to there entire nation. Of course this will require years of carful planing through purchasing power companies and power production facilities and razing them to the ground to prevent there government from capturing them.

Well, technically you can't drive combustion engines on the moon either. And Tank Cannons are designed to fire multiple types of ordanance, so making a guided kinetic impactor that can be fired from a tank cannon would propably take less effore than designing the guidance system for the impactor.

My point would be that it's totally not hard to hit the earth from the moon but hitting the moon from the earth requires a lot of effort.
And then you have to deal with the vacuum making explosives pretty pointless.
You would also have a hard time using kinetic weaponry, as you can not rely on the moon's gravity giving you a good velocity and making a weapon capable of properly hitting the moon accurately and anywhere with high speeds would require a lot of engineering and lots of money.
Navigating the moon with military equipment is also difficult, so fixed defenses would have an advantage, making a counter-invasion very difficult.

Conclusion: If you're on the moon, you've got all advantages. You have the entire planet withing the range of a tank while staying out of range of even the best ICBMs.

@Shadowcat: There's one problem though. Not all energy companies are present on the stock market. Therefore, you may not be able to take over control over them.

I wonder if orbital bombardment of North Korea would gain any complaints, I'm sure china/South Korea/USA wouldn't mind waltzing in when shortymcshort croaks and grabbing a piece.
