I guess punishing people for crimes could keep them from doing crimes in the future if the punishment is strong enough.
Like execution, or chopping off their arms.

Execution has the glaring flaw, though. You need to be abso-godsdamn-lutely sure you have the right person, and if there's even a small doubt, you can't follow through with that.

The problem is that you can't execute people for minor crimes, and chopping off their arms would result in them not being able to earn money legally either, also time has proven that the deterrence method doesn't really work with humans that well.

As far as Im aware I don’t live in anarchy, proves it works, as simple as that. Plus who said chopping is needed ? Prison works perfectly well, and if that prison is not a 5 star hotel it will do just fine, no need to even execute.

Give the prison decent conditions. As in, ok food, comfortable if slightly empty rooms, some books or whatnot, and education for those who need or want it.

A box with a bunch of assholes with batons guarding it doesn't really give a good impression to the community, anyhow.

Remember, the idea of rehab is to give people the skills to work and live legitimately, instead of tossing them in a box for a few years then letting them out, because with the skillz you'd get from rehab, you can, as stated, actually earn monies and such.

So now when our good Terrorist leaves the Norwegian prison he is going to join the ESL with his highly developed PS3 skills ! Again that Norwegian prison is not rehab.
