Carrier unit Delta:
Note, this is not a ship, just the carrier unit of a much bigger one, guess what I'm working on again.
the runways, small craft use the little ones, larger craft use the big one

Re: N.S.C.D. industrial/military production
adding greeble and stuff to carrier units to make them vaguely match the armour on the main hull:
also I've re-done the design, this will now be a lot bigger, my last estimate was around 3.7km long, 800 wide, and maybe 200 high, provided that goes to plan.

Re: N.S.C.D. industrial/military production
The shape won't necessarily be the same (I've scrapped the original drawing, save for the engines), and it may not be quite as curvy as I plan, but I think the size might just be accomplished, and provided I do the detail/greeble, as I make the hull, rather than after, then it could work out alright.Princess Luna wrote:Looks good. Unusual greeble technique; I'm quite impressed.
This is a signature.

Re: N.S.C.D. industrial/military production
Yeah I don't really like to have sensible greeble, I like to wing it and see what happens, though this should look pretty good when rendered from a distance, and considering my last estimates put the ship at 4km long, that is a good thing.

Aren't greebles uneven texturing in a ship, not a uniform design?Prototype wrote:Yeah I don't really like to have sensible greeble, I like to wing it and see what happens, though this should look pretty good when rendered from a distance, and considering my last estimates put the ship at 4km long, that is a good thing.

Not necessarily, you can have them somewhat even.

But that's the same pattern along the whole ship, and its not even a few blocks thick, just a flat scheme.Prototype wrote:Not necessarily, you can have them somewhat even.

Re: N.S.C.D. industrial/military production
The hull isn't greebled in the sense you mean, that's just the design, but the carrier unit is greebled in a somewhat arbitrary manner.
And greeble doesn't have to be multiple blocks thick, in fact, the areas where there is no extra detail break it up and eliminate the flatness, but I'll have to develop it further, I should have probably integrated this for the carrier like I did for the hull, but I didn't plan on using the carrier when I made it
But it's better than a flat iron hull.
