Good job on deciding that your ship had something wrong with it and then working to fix it! I think widening it was the right choice.

Un-rebuild the front at once! It looks much cooler when split in half, so keep it that way, and just join up the back section and redecorate the inner part which was cut.

I'm going to do both a split and a "whole" Fulgur-class destroyer (Fulgur-class A{"whole"} and Fulgur-class B{split}) since I designed it as "whole" first.

Ignore the misplaced plating parts.
Much better! I did something quite similar for my I.C.E.S.S Deployable Cruiser. I meant to build it solid, but I decided to split the front half in two because it looked so much cooler.
Also a wise decision to keep going on the whole version, if only for variety's sake.
