Other Block-Based Entities

So far, we have decided we want block-based entities for spaceships.

Basically, since we'll have the framework, why not use it for other things. Boats, airships, and tank-cities.

That way, we keep the dynamic of small entity - larger block-world combat. We can have larger customization things, like aircraft carriers without too much trouble. It would be a bit of work, but it would save time when trying to allow larger-scale combat on fronts other than space. Thoughts?

Still reading the skype chat log, but on driving cars/whatever, I'd prefer to have a system similar to The Third Mike's modern world or something. Last time I checked it was abandoned, but it was easily the best vehicles mod I've ever come across.

Could you link it? I can't seem to find it. I should get to bed.

It's here(been locked for over a year IIRC):

Although from what I read, y'all seem to have decided on the features I liked.

Oh hey... I remember that guy's mods!

Anyway, I think we decided that Standard non ATVs would be able to scale half-blocks only, and ATVs would be able to scale whole blocks.

Yeah, non-ATVs should require roads to drive.
ATVs can scale 1 block and larger mechs even more.

However, there should also be some kind of ramps for non-ATVs. To get those cars to other levels.

We're not adding ramps, just allowing not-ATVs to scale half-blocks (but not stairs).

I feel like vehicles should be at least able to go up 1 block at a time contingent on the tiers we discussed (naturally a tank from T9 is going to be more effective at traversing terrain than the totally-not-MKVs from T5 or siege engines from much earlier). The heavier the vehicle, the more you have to progress to get a version that can handle anything steeper than a half block. Mechs would be able to go 2 and higher to make things interesting, but naturally have much weaker arms/armor for the sake of their maneuverability.

Tanks would most likely be ATVs. I think the only things that couldn't would be residential cars.

Basically, any vehicle that is designed to scale terrain is considered an ATV (tanks, Jeeps, dirtbikes, actual ATVs, etc.).

Maybe we can have some sort of tank that only works on roads (Isn't ATV) but has a lot more power, like the railway guns of WWII. Otherwise, what Tau said.

Railway anti-orbiter cannons? I would support that.
