Space fighters will not be aerodynamic, because there is no atmosphere in space. It makes sense, because it makes construction a lot cheaper. Which puts in the niche for these helis.
I don't like the massive rotors. They're bloody useless. Why have them on a flying carrier when a ship that size fulfills the same function AND goes into space?
But for small craft, certainly. Having an air raid with one would be very fun and awesome.

Re: Rotors
They still would be pretty useful, as they could launch jets and helis

Re: Rotors
I don't see the point in stuff like the helicarrier, just use a ship
However, something like attack helis would be good, but these would probably be entities, however I can cook up some larger rotors for bigger transport and attack helis (like the dragon from avatar).
Perhaps rotors could be done for smaller block based craft, as thrust modules, I think that might be an idea, but for anything big they would be too weak.

Helicarriers can be made possible, just very impractical.Tacokingbob wrote:thats what I was thinking like the dragon, I mentioned it too, but I want heli-carriers too

Re: Rotors
Very VERY unpractical. That means that instead of having one universal fleet you will have 3 - One for space, one for ground and another one to tow all those useless heli-carriers you made as they can't otherwise go from planet to planet ....

Re: Rotors
We should still make this possible if we are going to do rotors for small block based craft, but nobody will use it, it'll just be a feature that we can just slap on, and might be good for promo videos.Iv121 wrote:Very VERY unpractical. You don't make a future nobody uses. I suggest instead using this time and manpwoer for other, better futures. There is more than enoguh to do without it.

Re: Rotors
If we add rotors for small block based craft (note: IF), then it would be very simple to make them work for larger craft.Iv121 wrote:You don't make a future nobody uses. I suggest instead using this time and manpwoer for other, better futures. There is more than enoguh to do without it.
Though perhaps this can be done for FC 1.1

I still say it doesn't belong in this mod.

Re: Rotors
You said BIG rotors couldn't be in the mod, fr0st. Does that mean we still get atmospheric superiority fighters?

We can use the same engines star fighters would use.Tiel wrote:You said BIG rotors couldn't be in the mod, fr0st. Does that mean we still get atmospheric superiority fighters?

Re: Rotors
Yea again more practical. It is more of a modelling question here but I'd rather have a bigger variety of fighters and bomber rather than radom choppers.

Re: Rotors
Well I still like block based drop ships and helis and the likes, because I can only make so many models, giving players the ability to make their own would be good.Iv121 wrote:Yea again more practical. But my models would b smexy-er
