I think dropships should be big, but not huge and carry supplies, vehicles, and soldiers. Also Armored tanks, apcs, Ifvs and artillery, I presume will be added. But those will and should mostly corespond with infantry and fortified bases, ideas?

Guess we'll come to it when we'll build dropships, I don't think anyone questions thier existance.

Dropships could be entities deployed from planetary assault ships, sorta like

Thats what we implied, as they wouldn`t have enough fuel reserves to travel great distances, but would be able to carry vehicles and troops

Who's we?

Iv seems to be thinking of the block-based dropships in the original MCForum OP that would be largely independent from an invasion fleet. I'm thinking that a dropship is probably just going to be a spaceship hull cleared out to fit in ground assault gear and atmospheric superiority fighters.

There's only so much you can do with entities, after all. After playing around with Flan's the concept of flying down with a group of people in one doesn't seem all that tenable.

I didn't say anything about how the dropships are made. As a golden rule, anything smaller than around 14 blocks in length and/or width should be made as an entity because at those scales it is basically almost impossible to make a good looking ship out of blocks. I guess my UTT Bee is 12 in length but it is rather an exception .

Dropship's shouldn't be entities, because that'd be tough to pull off right and make it not feel, well, glitchy. Try making a Bomber in Flan's with one or two people and you'll see what I mean. If a mod that's been out for 3 or so years can't do it well...

ok I think we might be able to have smaller dropships as blocks, only with special cockpits, that would work like a ships core

I just tried this messing round with some models, but perhaps using modular components as blocks, could make smaller dropships look ok if they are made of blocks.

I was thinking of that, with cockpits, and weapon plyons, and you should make a dev thread saying that, its an amazing idea, but there should be multiple different sized cockpits, one with a single pilot one with 2, but each one would have different externals/internals etc.
