Rotors

Could large rotors be possibly added, so one could make like an Avengers heli-carrier or a Dragon from avatar? This would make in atmosphere aircraft be able to easily head back to refuel or deploy. It also would make jets more useful, so it could be shot down. There should be 4 types of rotors, large (like Heli-carrier) medium(Chinook), small (for small normal helicopters, and tail rotors.

I'm not sure that would fit too well in this mod.

Its entirely sci-fi and great for interplanetary invasion forces, and the rotors have 3d crafting as well so you just attach rotor block in a duel or quad pattern.

They might be possible.... Idk if they would be just sprites or actual objects that interact and are stopped by solids.

Helicopters do sound like a good cheap alternative to repulsor-powered dropships, considering they only work in atmosphere, they also have their cons, so why not?

Well why yes ? We go for more futuristic setting ad choppers do not fit in well even if they are more efficient. After all, all of the stuff we do in this mod is inefficient and exists purely to give a rich and good looking setting, as well as enjoyable gameplay :) .

This would fit in great, they just would be in-atmosphere only, making it able to provide close air support, be a mobile heli-base, emergency EVACs, and it would make civilian transportation easy. Plus if you don`t like it, don`t use it.

Well you know what I think about atmosphere ... in a game about space. Even if this way I think it is a much better investment to put in something that can go both in space and in atmosphere no matter how you turn it.

But for them to hover in air, it would be very hard. And this is mainly so you can have large heli-carriers and attack helicopters

That again why would you bother making ? You will need to transport them from planet to planet anyway which is more or less the same fuel you waste on making them hover for a few moments. Also I'd like to disappoint you and add that choppers also burn fuel while hovering and I don't think the difference in fuel consumption is that big.

But they could be carried by large ships in orbit and be pulled in atmosphere by space tugs/or have the ship in atmosphere and drop it for large helicopters(heli-carriers) small ones could be easily deployed.

Yea but cmon - building separate fighters for space and land ? Why build twice as much, take twice as much space and as a result twice as much fuel while going around ?

Because it looks cool.

Yup, and its cheaper, than to build a huge spaceship, which are more expensive overall. Plus this would be amazing, as you could have hovering bases, using fusion reactors, so you can stay airborne for prolonged amounts of time, with landing strips on them (like an aircraft carrier). Plus helicopters can help make VTOLs easier to make, and can go lower without as a large risk of going fast and crashing.

Then guess it is a matter of taste as big rotors do not attract me too much ...
