Not quite. However Flan spoke to the guy who made the rail of war (at least I think it was that one) a while ago about being able to walk around on top of moving entities...

well, if that works, then maybe it could be adapted for landing helicopters on ships and such as well.

Doubtful It will be made, that thing is too big to function properly, you will have probs with chuck loading and enities and stuff, Im not even talking about the fact that MC's seas are too small to use it or even that ship proto is making, they are mostly just fancy entities.

Proto, maybe you should make a small patrol boat for going up rivers? Like, 4 blocks wide and 9 long?

Oceans in MC are huge.

Lakes in MC are eh.

Also, both the US Navy and Royal Canadian Navy sail their ships through the Great Lakes periodically :P

Your definition of huge is somewhat problematic, either that or you don’t realize how huge a carrier is, and you know yes it will FIT in an ocean but that doesn't mean its not totally useless in there. Even if you struggle with that statement there is no struggle about the feasibility of such big entities in the MC engine right now, its really too much of a bother if you ask me, its also totally missing the point of MC. IF you want to drive huge entities there are games soooo much better than MC for that, the only reason entities exist in MC is because they are too small to be built out of blocks or there is no point in building em out of blocks (for example planes for the first and zombies for the second). And yes you can build a carrier out of blocks and there are mods that actually allow it to move and allow you to stand on it and land stuff on it, there is no point in making such a big entity in MC, it won't ruin the game or something but it is totally missing the point and missing out on better opportunities to do things MC currently cannot.

I think the primary issues would be render distance and having so many entities loaded simultaniously.
Not the size of MC oceans making a carrier ineffective.
At least not on servers that are large enough for a carrier to make sense regarding the number of people present.

Well I know you posted after I edited my post but as I said there are superior alternatives to entity carriers in MC mod-wise. And unless those server got a custom map you'd be surprised to discover how small those "huge" oceans are despite their looks, yeah they got a lot of water but a huge chuck of that water is useless to you and in fact on average a carrier in an MC ocean will look like a boat in a river in the majority of places, they are rather ... thin , those oceans, try making a 3.5 km long line in MC just to realize how big a carrier is.
