yes thats great and all but the thruth is the mod will force one thing over the other

if the mod would consist of 30 kinds of weapons
and 1 more type of food
you would know the mod is based on war

if this mod would have 30 kinds of weapons
but economy stimulance
rpgish things
more farming
10 kinds of food
more furniture
city infrastructure
more kinds of blocks just for building

you would know it was based on a balanced rpg world

but upto now i almost only see war based things in this mod to be

That happens to be mainly because military stuff is highly complicated, making it a topic of heavy discussion.

Well it is about weapons, war and shooting, the question is what and at which frequency. That is what can and should be tweaked. It is a bit like Voltz mod pack.

Remember, systems can stay closed so long as they don't have jump gates. That means you can come out with a good sized ship and your planet will be defended. And noobs can't just go around shooting because older empires will be stronger, but they will be overthrown by several new empires. What we need isn't an OP faction or forced peace, what we need is a chaotic and war-ridden cycle of renewal. The admins might have to occasionally clean house, but a system with semi-limited resources could work.

It's a mod that adds space. That means that there will be war in space. However, we are hoping there will be other things to do in space besides war.

That's the whole point of this discussion; to figure out how to allow people to play something other than total war.

Has this discussion produced any useful results?

Depends how you define results, I suppose. It's progress, at least, and I for one had no idea there would be so many conflicting opinions on what to do. I think it is a good thing we are not waiting until beta to address it.

The point is the process of gearing up for fights and the fights themselves, together with exploration maybe (Works like Skyrim again, found it a good comparison :) ).

Well show me a game in the genre that is not about war, and yea gearing up for war is part of the fun, especially the building of your space craft. If the combat will be implemented the way I imagined it the user will have allot of stuff to keep in mind which makes it challenging to build a flawless ship - yet rewarding and actually not that complicated. Keep the vital tubes in the middle of your ship, place gunnery accordingly and add more armor to important rooms, make sure all parts of the ship have fast access while slowing the access of boarding parties, and on top of all make it cost efficient. For those who do find it complicated there are always default ship models that are included in the game alongside with models other players put on sale - also a way to get the money for war. It is hard for me to imagine other kind of activity besides exploration, gathering resources for fights and the fights themselves.
