Right, I have 3 ideas for space, to make the travel and stuff much more FUN and simpler for different reasons.

1: Advertisement Ships (I'll explain)
2: Sectored Space
3: (I'm sure most others have thought about this but I don't see it anywhere) Deep Space Stations that have fuel shops, other item shops and fun places to meet up.

1: Advertisement Ships.

So, your flying your fleet around, messing with friends and then you realise your friend's are running low on fuel. Unfortunately, your on a conquest mission to a random new server and don't know your way around these parts of the galaxy. Suddenly, just as you start to worry, you see a ship. It's not a freighter, no it's too big to be a freighter. It's an advertisement ship, telling you which direction to the nearest server which happens to have a space station, therefore saving your cheap-a** friends and getting you ready for that battle. (Note: they failed the conquest mission)

I think it would just be convenient for people who want businesses to be able to advertise around the galaxy. I also was reading a thread about the admins trying to get money while the game is up and running, hmm.... admins build advertisement ships that are featured on YouTube vids and around the galaxy every so often. I think a company would like that kind of advertising. (Lol, McDonald advert just flies past your face)
2: Sectored Space.

I did write quickly on another topic about this, so I'll C/P that one. Yeah, I'm lazy.

Right, if anyone's played Star Trek Online, they'll know what a brilliant (almost) space travel (Warp Hub) Map they have. What I want to know is, will the map be divided into sectors, not where each one loads separately, for easier navigation? What I mean is so that you can remember where sectors of space are comparative to one another and use that as a point of reference to get to your destination? I think it would make for a much easier travel system.
3. Deep Space Stations.

*ahem* Would it be possible to do this? No planet, just the station? I mean, it would be cool to have deep space stations around the galaxy, they would also help trade routes and could be used as meet-up points. I guess these would have to be programmed in by the Admins because there isn't a planet around them, and they aren't exactly a server. Just something to think about.

In terms of distance, any point within a solar system is going to be fairly nearby and easy to get to. Every system is connected by jump gates which are even shorter. Anything farther out than the edge of the solar system is by definition some pretty worthless real estate.

Okay...

Just to be sure, each solar system is going to be like a bubble, and the only way to get out is via a jump-gate or through hyper-space? Because that's how I had it planned.

To get to another star, yes. But if someone just wants to venture out into the inky blackness for a fortnight, I see no reason to stop them.

If someone goes out a ridiculous distance, we'll need to be careful with precision errors in their coordinates, but there's nothing insurmountable about it.

I would prefer if travel actually took time, even if only a little. Gives life onboard a ship some purpose.
