By that logic it would be pointless to even include planets in FC. If you can just nuke your enemy's planet from space, turning cities and military installations to glassy rubble, then why have cities and bases? Why have planets if they serve as naught but a firing range? It's important to include defenses that can't be bypassed without the proper action. Orbital cannons that would destroy a small attempt at invasion, city shields that can withstand a nuclear bombardment, etc. You would need either stealth or adequate force to get past the ODPs, then a planetary assault force to actually take the city.Keon wrote:Yes. Any weapon, regarless of type, will either burn up (physical) or attenuate (energy) when passing through an atmosphere during re-entry, unless properly armored.
Price of nukes x2, price of MACs x3, price of lasers / beam weapons x2.5.
Cheaper to go down and shoot the lot of them.
