Re: Aliens
Actually, this is an important point. Might Futurecraft be more successfully if most players fought against one (or several/many) non-player villains? They wouldn't necessarily have to be NPCs, it could be a specially created faction for that purpose.Iv121 wrote:Any game needs an ultimate badass villain. It is much easier to get him with aliens with our gaming habits. If you plan to make players those villains you will end up promoting PvP all over which is not good - it means you won't dare leaving the dock.
Besides that (or having an ancient, mysterious alien race), I firmly believe no aliens. To many people will pester us for a particular alien they want, and in the end, we'll be needing to add dozens into the game to keep everyone happy.
P.S. Sorry for my late reply, I've been avoiding some topics....

You can't keep all happy and if you aim for that you can quit making futurecraft already ... Also you don't add aliens they want, you design and add an alien unique to your universe.

Re: Aliens
The point is I don't want aliens. I was just making a feasible excuse as to why not. The Minecraft player-base is already full of so many bizarre and amazing creatures, why would we possibly need to add more?Iv121 wrote:You can't keep all happy and if you aim for that you can quit making futurecraft already ... We can try a boss character, but I'm not going to hold out too much hope for it just yet.

Re: Aliens
Anyone remember my G.O.P.A.C.T. Thread from the old forums?
No?
Well maybe we can designate certain criminal roles (e.g. Say Iv121 and error, or the likes) and they were given a certain code, but enough resources to be a threat, and they could, according to their code, attack players, and end up being notorious among the community. Also we would warn people about them.
If we do something like this, I volunteer.

II'm not sure how this would work, but I guess we shall see.

No, overpowered stuff should NEVER EVER be given to human players. Even if the humans won't abuse it (they inevitably will) it will make people rage that certain players have this power, even though an AI will do the same. To fight an OP comp is a challenge you see, to fight an OP human is a pain in the butt and a recipe to be blamed in power abuse, even if it is not the case (and also when it is).Prototype wrote:Anyone remember my G.O.P.A.C.T. It probably won't work any way it's done, human or AI.
