Actually, this is about a book series.
I put this here as it is a sci-fi series featuring quite realistic technology and some of the Devs (especially the Boss, Mackeroth) do like being realistic and balanced.
I am talking about the "Revelation Space"-series by Alastair Reynolds.
Especially the book Redemption Arc, is good for inspiration, as it features a lot of tech usually not found in sci-fi.
Like near-speed-of-light travel.
It has many Ideas to fill the gap between yay-we-can-shoot-rockets-age and lol-my-shield-is-powered-by-a-self-made-ZPM-age.
Here you can see some of the interesting stuff they made.
Hell Class Turret FTW! (Note: A Hell Class weapon seems to have a power ranging from MAC-level to Superlaser-level, so they might be on the more later tech side or even be restricted to the Moderator Faction that is talked about that much)

Re: Inspirational Literature
I'm actually reading Revelation Space right now. The hell-class weapons are pretty OP compared to what I think we're shooting for, but it's definitely an interesting series. I'm not sure if this thread belongs here or in Off-Topic, but I'm leaving it here for now.

I´m not sure where it belongs as well, to be fair...Last_Jedi_Standing wrote:I'm actually reading Revelation Space right now.
