I think it's been a while since I've seen you around. Welcome back.

Also, never heard of this game, although the name does make it sound pretty nifty.

EDIT: This game looks fucking awesome, but I don't have $40 kickin' around to buy it after I bought Rise Of Flight.

It really is worth it. I bought it 2 days ago, actually. I bought it on the basis that European Escalation was a damn good game, and Airland battle is no different.
I think I saw Ach (or someone with his name) in the chat today, so I was wondering if he had it.

I grabbed both in a sale.

Don't really play them, too much like SupCom for my tastes.

ACH has it, he made a thread about it on the old-old forum. Is it like WiC? It looks like WiC, which is good.

It's like world in conflict, but everything's more realistic and there are 100x more statistics. It also incorporates different "decks" which are groups of units that you can put together. In the campaign, there are specific air assault, marine, etc. "decks" depending on the unit itself (194th Armored Division, for example). You can also model your own decks after real-world units.

I have to disagree, the only thing it has in common with WiC is a handful of units. The gameplay is radically different.

You're right, Tiel. The sectors that are captured to gain points for more units makes it different. WiC just gave you a set amount of points.

Heard good things about this, but IDK. I've llayed enough Homeworld I suffer without the up-down axis to utilize. Aircraft just don't cut it.

What I'm saying is this is quite literally Supcom versus Ground Control in terms of scale and management. One focuses on the tactical level, one focuses on large-scale strategy with little if any regard to the former; units are just cards to be played when you feel like it.

You have to make a base in SupCom, though. In Wargame, you control sectors with reinforcement routes. Once you're out of reinforcements, you're out. Not if, ands, or buts about it.

I never mentioned anything about basebuilding, so not sure where you're going with this.

The segue was you saying that units are cards played whenever you feel like it. Anyway, it doesn't matter. I was just seeing if anyone had the game and was interested in playing.

As in their weight. A unit in WiC has a lot more Gaben in the trunk than SupCom or Wargame. You could probably say that's the cost of the greater scale, though imo it shifts from intense micro to a game of statistics.

We really should get Saturday gamenights started up again. I think we did it...once?
