Kerbal Space Program Megathread V1
Well funny thing I found out when my rocket fell apart is that an orange tank with 4 boosters will get you to space but then you run out of fuel and fall down -.- , adding more fuel to the capsule on top makes it too heavy and it doesn't get high enough anymore. I generally try to get a dV of 5000 as I found it enough to give you an orbit and send you to your destination.

Are you doing a gravity turn? Are you using liquids or ions or what in space?

All liquid fuel and also solid fuel boosters, the ion ones seem useless for heavy weight craft.

And you do turn at ~10,000m towards 90°, right?
Also, I suggest using liquid fuel tanks+engines instead of boosters.
I´m currently working on getting a destroyer into space and boosters just aren´t strong enough.

Boosters are not used for adding dV they are used for adding acceleration allowing you to lift off heavier stuff with the same engine configuration, and now it was 100,000 m together with the fuel in the capsule itself (which was there for interplanetary travel)

Dude, just use MechJeb.

I don't think this will save my ships from falling apart , oh well guess solid fuel boosters on the top of the ship will be my trademark

Re: Kerbal Space Program Megathread V1
How tall is your ship? It doesn't need to be very tall. In fact, a 'pyramid' sort of design usually works best, as the engines have to carry up the fuel of the engines above them.

Well it is a pyramid, I just moved the boosters to the top to improve structural integrity (so the bot won't collide into the top), they fire in the same time.
It will be as tall as 3.5 orange tanks combined (they are not all orange tanks ofc)

Re: Kerbal Space Program Megathread V1
That's horrifying. It doesn't need to be that tall. You can get into orbit and out of the Kerbin area with something a little taller than 1 orange tank(~1.5 orange tanks).

If you try hard enough, 2 orange tanks and a mainsail, with an FL-T800 and a nuke engine above it, and a Mk1 capsule on top, will get you a one way scenic trip to Duna.

If you are like me and your ships suffer from wobbly syndrome, I advise adding a girder or two perpendicular to the body, then fastening everything to it.

Re: Kerbal Space Program Megathread V1
I use a lot of spaceplanes for trips to places like Minmus or Mun, and a mainsail, orange rocket, and some nukes and solid boosters to get to places like Eve or Duna. If I want to get to somewhere like Eelloo(whatever that most-distant planet is called), I use nukes and ions in space, simply because carrying the liquid fuel to get there would be so unimaginably inefficient(nuclears are for clearing the planetary gravity well).

No you didn't read me - just the spaceships with the pod, fuel, engines and equipment is already almost 1 orange tank and yea adding another orange tank plus an engine gives you more than 2 orange tanks already and I've already said it was enough to gets you 110,000m 90 deg and make you fall down a looong fall. I bet most of your ships are around 3 orange fuel tanks in height (and not actual freaking orange tanks) too.
In other words any ship that is built like: spaceship --> first stage (setting orbit) --> second stage (taking off, usually with a bunch of other engines and fuel tanks on the sides) is 3 orange fuel tanks tall.
