After buying simcity and installing it from the disk, every time i try to launch the game it downloads something for a bit and then gets stuck on this screen:

Anyone know how to fix this?

I dunno. I did hold back getting the game until they fix the bugs because currently it's unplayable from what I heard. The all-time-online thingy made so much trouble for the otherwise good game and it was also visible on the scores the game got. I could pity the game but instead I say EA got what it deserved for using that lame system, may it be a warning for others. Also hope the micro-transactions on paid games will be blow in EA's face so that those greedy idiots get some dignity and brain instead of turning their games into a circus.

I think everybody was having that? I know a lot of people were getting stuck.

This is one of those rare moment where I agree with you 100%

Ok, its working now, all i had to do was delete everything in \Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\SimCity\SimCityUserData

Then it propably had already a halfway-finished download which jammed the new one or something.

My dad told me about how terrible the launch for this game was. You have to pay in game money to expand the tiny area in which you are allowed to build your city (which is a terrible idea in all games) there is a bug where even if you have multiple police stations, they will only solve on crime at a time. and... its just terrible. I think they are fixing it though. I'm definitely not going to play it though unless hey remove the whole property expansion thing. I was a huge fan of Sim City 4 and this... with it's upgraded graphics and terrain... I wish I could add it to my list of favorite games but this is unacceptable for me.

EA are a bunch of money grubbing bastards. They tried to shove this whole "pay money for stuff in a game you already paid 60$ for!" in BF3 as well. Boycott 'em.

Eh if it was that easy, they hold some unique stuff and good stuff that they ruin with their bloody hands ... Best way to do this is to obtain their games without paying , or go support the indie devs .

Ok, I'm sure the pic in your avatar was taken by you right ? It's also some sort of piracy that you didn't say where and who did you take it from, nobody does this right ? I'd prefer to value the freedom of speech in our case and instead disallow linking to pirated games and such, also I added "support indie devs" in the same sentence .

I acually really like the game now its working, wasting a day trying to install it was stupid, but the circle roads and non lagginess (i get 4 fps on simcity 4 but about a million on simcity (new one). The tiny plot needs to be changed though, Grrrrr

that tiny plot is what is keeping me from buying it.

Not that I'm aware of. But if you want to pirate an actually good Sim City game, go with 3000.
