Anyone remember that nifty game? Like Minecraft, but more combat oriented?
It's recently undergone a reboot that looks pretty intriguing. Anyone played it since that update?

TB reviewed it a while ago and it looked bad. Did they change that stuff?

TB's review was for the 1.0 version, and I have to say, he's changed my mind about buying the game. It seems everything Jagex added only served to ruin the game.
Build and shoot hosts the .75 version. Anyone interested in playing that? It's free.

Legally?

Legally.
Ace of Spades was free before Jagex bought it and ruined it. It'd be like Notch pulling the plug on Minecraft Classic and some other site hosting it.

What does the old version not have that the new version ruined it with?

It runs on Voxlap engine, it's free, not as pretty, but functional; building has a higher precedence than combat, three types of weaponry rather than four classes, no jetpacks to circumvent defenses.
A lot of the stuff TB disliked in his video isn't there.

Oh good. I thought that jetpack idea was just insanely stupid. I'm glad it wasn't theirs.

I had played the old version a while. It was quite fun if you got in a game with other people who also wanted to play. But same-team griefing was rampant as well, and difficult to stamp out.
But is was still a fun game. You could join a session and if you got into a goove, end up at the top of the leaderboard within minutes. It was all about being in the right place at the right time and you could create such magnificent chaos.
I doubt I'll ever play the new version.
