The definition of a MOBA technically is that of an RTS geared toward specific elements, like towers and such.

Well MOBA is when instead of controlling an army you control a single unit. It becomes less about tactics and more about quick fingers ... so Indeed it becomes a question if it is a MOBA or RTS - I think the answer is how good the RTS aspects are - if it is too dumb I highly recommend them stick with the MOBA side because otherwise it would count for a crappy game.
