Btw, this should not be seen as an indication of any sort of flight controls we are going to attempt. Not happening.

Actually glad this all happens. Those games are mostly PC oriented, they signify the return of not only the space combat sim genre but also the return of PC gaming, screw you consoles
They do become very similar. The same control scheme is used for both star citizen, the later Freespace mods and other recent space combat thingies. They will have to set themselves apart to attract more attention.

Cooool. Looked @ the kickstarter page. Might not make it's $ goal, but still looks epik.

It already failed to make it's goal. A shame, it might have been able to pull in 100K if that was the asking price, but 300K was way too much. The creator made the mistake of treating kickstarter like a publisher, charging the professional rate and putting all his expenses up front. The world of indie game development is rarely so kind. You have to work for cheap and hire employees on the prospect of making money on the finished product, not pay them salary. Making a startup company is hard work, and Kickstarter is absolutely wonderful for getting investors, but it's no magic bullet.
Except for that one time the Veronica Mars movie kickstarter reached 2 million in like, 11 hours. WTF.

pc gaming IS dying wether we like it or not. console gaming may not have as good quality, and it may not have as many games, but the console gamers outnumber us and its because its cheeper. this game does look cool though.

Lets weigh them:
PC
Pros:
Can be upgraded
Versatile
Multipurpose
Portable (Laptops)
Open System
Better Quality
Unlimited amount of games available
Publishers have a harder time screwing you over
Cons:
Expensive
May be difficult to set up
Can be large
Consoles
Pros:
Easy to set up
One system multi-player
Compact
Cheap
Cons:
Closed system
Low quality
Limited amount of games
Less precision
'Dumbed down' games
Cannot be modified
Prone to breaking
Can be screwed over by publishers
It's really a back-forth battle, consoles for accessibility vs. PC's for versatility/power/quality.
PC is not dying, it's just that major publishers are putting out less games for it, or are pushing more for consoles. I enjoy both, but neither is going to die anytime soon.
Until Virtual Reality and Holographics kick in. No wait, just integration!

The PC is doing just fine. Plus, last generation, consoles were too different from PCs to port easily. This time around it will be easy and profitable. There's going to be a lot less console exclusives this time around.

A simple proof it's wrong would be the indie games and especially minecraft. You may argue there is MC for Xbox but I bet they can't get their FTB working like I did last night .

I was under the impression the deal with console exclusives was that companies would rather have the consumer shell out 300 or so bucks to get their game console plus 60 for the game instead of just paying the latter and running it on the computer. Halo's BLAM! engine is fairly compatible with the PC, but Microsoft wants people to buy the 360, not play it on their computer or perhaps even pirate it. That's why everything from 3 onwards hasn't budged from that atrociously useless box.

PC has it's own exclusives ... much more than PS3 or Xbox have. And yea if it's only Halo that we sacrifice it's a legitimate price ... There are other game as well but cmon we could live without them ...

Little Big Planet and Dust 514 are the only console games I've wanted in the past few years. Oh and some Wii games that I bought. Wii is the only console I feel isn't an outdated CPU. I don't know why.

I am certain all the console dwellers are jealous of our SimCity 5.
