There are a lot of MOBAs on the market these days. Maybe too much, depending on whom you ask.

MOBA has become pretty synonymous with crap like LoL and DOTA. And it's these two games that have stopped me exploring the genre, I can't play either without falling asleep. Or actually enjoying it, outside the ultra competitiveness I really don't understand why these are so big.

Ultra-competetiveness, that's really it.

The only thing I play that could even be maybe called a MOBA is Fractured Space. But... it's spaceships wailing on each other, not heroes bopping each other over the head or farming NPC goons for points.

Speaking of, play Fractured Space, is gud

They added the Carrier recently, too. So you can mob baddies with strike craft.
