So, after many days of anguish, I decided "maybe I'll just check my router's settings". Remembering a mention of checking my router's firewall, I look. It's set at 'typical security'. I cast a glance to the hall, making sure there is no one looking, and set it to 'minimum security'. I go back to Steam, click 'retry connection'. I get the Steam guard prompt. "Progress!" I silently exclaimed. After entering the code, lo and behold, IT WORKED. COCMAST, GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER.
