The next civilization game to come out will place you this time on Mars, With all new tech trees, all new fictional content, and a whole new unit system. This is going to be fucking amazing.

Sad thing is Civ V in Space is something the indie market already has pretty much covered. Look at Pandora: First Contact and then at the teaser screenshots Firaxis has released.

I'm extremely excited about the orbital layer they have planned, though - that hasn't really been done too often in strat games. The only thing that'd really come close is this one called Armies of Exigo that had simultaneous combat both underground and in the overworld.

I like how they dicided to use a 'tech web' instead of the classical tech tree.

Well for strategy games in general Planetary Annihilation has Ground/Sky/Orbital/and are planning for between planets combat.

Well technically they've always used a tech web since
1. Its a semi-hybrid of a full tech-web and a tech tree, Everyone can advance down a different path but dont get too far apart
2. I coined the term 'tech-web' off of civs tech tree.

Yeah, but that's more or less just air warfare on a different plane. I like a lot of what PA's doing, though. Completely nutty stuff like driving planets into one another is going to lend to some really dynamic gameplay.

That's just spoiling it. I'm not going to touch or look at the game before it releases to maximize the 50$ or so investment I'll end up making in it.

The problem with these Early Access games is that you're invariably wearing the titles out before they're even done.

I think they added giant thrusters that you can build on moons to drive them into the planet at some point.
