Hotlead Gaming Convention

So on Friday and Saturday I was at Hotlead. It's a tabletop wargaming convention in me hometown every year. The 20th anniversary this year apparently dragged in everybody.

I got 3 games in so far. Friday night, a little World War 1 skirmish, Brits v. Germans. My 3 sections were torn to hell and gone (1 guy survived), but I did enough damage and held them up long enough to let the other Brit rifle section and MG team to take a ponint of high ground and start pasting the Germans.
Technical British victory, woohoo.

This afternoon, a World War 2 battalion v. battalion skirmish, Canadians versus Germans. We stopped halfway through due to time contraints, but barring some absolutely spectacular rolls by the Germans, they would've lost. Credit where it's due, though, they certainly caused us grief. 2 Cdn. armor squadrons and 2 infantry companies versus roughly the same for the Germans plus some static defenses.

And this evening, we did a neat little Steampunky airship combat thing. Hex based, and France v. Britain. Both sides had a cruiser and a destroyer. I got the luckiest roll EVAR, scoring a golden BB kill on the (first) enemy cruiser 3 turns in. The GM gave the guy a second ship. Fair's fair.

We ended in a draw. French (my teem) cruiser down, but both Brits battered ihto near uselessness, and my destroyer running off the board (I can't take on 2 ships and win). Was very fun, probably gonna get a copy of the game.

Tomorrow, with luck, we'll get in a game of Full Thrust, speecsheep combat game. Very fun ruleset, and hopefully it'll be epic.

That's the point, sorry. Ever heard of All Quiet on the Martian Front?

I do historical wargaming (both land and naval; mainly ww2 and modern). I'm also getting into Warhammer 40k; I'm probably going to play Eldar.

If you like naval, Full Thrust is an interesting take on space navy combat.
