Starcrawlers

Basically a space-dungeon crawler. You are a mercenary doing all kinds of jobs for money.

From what I've seen;

-There's no railroading into saving the universe.

-The plot can fold out and people react based on what you do

-Multiple encounter options like in FTL

-Procedural content

Take a look. It seems very nice. Also, the guy who did FTL's music is doing music for this.

Well there are so many indies like that nowadays that I just stopped counting, they all look good don't get me wrong but their amount is just overwhelming.

Most indies use far too much pixel. I don't really like the pixelized look, and for a lot, they are crap.

Well guess depends on what you expect from those games.

Also indie games will always look either pixelated by style or pixelated for real because indie devs can't afford to make fancy graphical engines. OFC an alternative would be any other kind of simplistic graphics that do not require that fancy engine which might be your sort of "escape route" from the pixelated style.
