Dammit Pat now I don't want to launch the game
Re: Well, HOTS is out
You should not have bought it to begin with!

I don't know, that archangel fight seemed cool.

Re: Well, HOTS is out
Sorry I'm late, was beating campaign.
Pat, you sir are full of shit. There are only two problems I had with the lore in the campaign, those being the creation of the Overmind(which can kind of work if you think about it) and that awkward moment when Kerrigan takes a dropship and somehow can't pick up Raynor . Also, the Zerg aren't one hive mind - just bound to one will. If they were a true hive mind, there would be no need for Broodmothers or their earlier counterparts, the Cerebrates. And if you can get free troops from caves, why wouldn't you go get them?
I actually enjoyed the campaign, and overall I think it's much higher quality than Brood War was as far as gameplay goes. There's a large variety of level designs and gameplay styles, some of which look to be inspired from popular custom games. The only part that felt half-assed was the tram sequence leading up to the Archangel fight. The evolution missions, although they were very short and easy, were a nice break from base management and a good chance to check potential evolutions for power/hilarity (lol jumping banelings). It's still disappointing that we don't see the new Protoss units in the campaign; I really love the Tempest.
On to story! The writing is at its worst (excluding cutscenes) right after the first mission, but it gets somewhat better after you leave the first planet. I don't understand why every enemy wants to taunt you instead of wiping you out, but I digress...the overall plot and story arc isn't bad, but I think Blizzard has been putting more effort into storytelling by cutscene rather than in-mission dialogue. The late game story is much better than the early game, but it's still no Mass Effect.
Overall the expansion seems more like it should be worth $30 rather than $40; the campaign goes by faster than WoL and seems like it needs two more planets in there. The new units are handy (and at least for the Protoss, they fill gaps in the force composition) but they seem to be tacked on, with more effort going into the evolution mission rewards. I give it a 7.5/10, with half of a point deducted due to the pricing.

Re: Well, HOTS is out
I spoiled mission one, sue me.
Re: Well, HOTS is out
Also, being a protoss fan, I have to point out that when you "kill" a protoss, they warp back to the homeworld...
Aka, that mission where those 'toss were trying to get word to Shakuras? Oh wait, kerrigan killed a zealot? Boom. Alerted. For some reason, that really really bothered me.

Re: Well, HOTS is out
Protoss armor is typically equipped with a complex teleportation mechanism that can detect when its wearer is grievously injured and automatically teleports the warrior to the nearest safe haven. This of course is dependent on the mechanism being fully functional, as there is the risk of being damaged during combat.
From Starcraft wiki. So it's their base, not their homeworld, and Shakuras would be out of range anyways.

Re: Well, HOTS is out
<3 Kerrigan
When I first saw the HotS trailer after finishing WoL I thought she was being an ungrateful witch, but after the first mission I'm really taking a liking to her.

Re: Well, HOTS is out
Yeah, Brood War and all of that.
But her departure wasn't caused by her, she didn't have much of a choice. The trailer implied she was willing to just throw away everything Raynor did for her in pursuit of revenge.

Re: Well, HOTS is out
It's important to note that Kerrigan is NOT the Queen of Blades from BW and WoL.
But...it is kinda for revenge.
