Protip: When Chryssalids show up, Shredder rockets + lots and lots of dakka = success with probably minimal death.

Please tell me you're playing Classic; if you're playing Normal, it shouldn't be this hard.

Also: SATELLITES. SATELLITES BLOODY EVERYWHERE.

I'm playing normal, with ironman and the damage modification option thingy. It's my first time, dude, didn't know satellites were THAT important. Had I three days more I would've launched two more and saved asia, but that would've not really helped me. Whatever, next time, I'll save those filthy africans too.

Things are going well. Egypt, south africa and ella brittannia are out of the game, but the rest's quite solid. It's the third month, maybe the fourth, and I've got abunch of skilled troops, satellites on about half/two thirds of the still surviving parts of the world, and my tech's nice too. I could attack the alien base, but I'll take my time and us it as last minute resort should too many of them get their jimmies startled.

So, are S.H.I.V.s worth anything?

Early to mid game, yes. Late game, your soliders outstrip them in usefulness.

So my squad made out of captains to majors (or whatever max rank is) in titan/skeleton armor is going to stay. Might make one at some point for the achievement, though.

Next question: Let's say I built a few satellite control rooms, and they're being used at full capacity. I want to build a satellite nexus where one of them is, what's going to happen in the meantime to the satellites they control?

Well I have long war so ppl get fatigued for 4-5 days after ops unlike SHIVs so they really help with the numbers, their repair time is also much smaller compared to the time it takes wounded soldiers to heal and they shred tech like nobody’s business so they work for me. Keep in mind their use is different from how you use soldiers, they do not use cover but rather you can reduce the potential DMG they get using LOS, same goes for MECs when you get to them, on the other hand it encourages you to do risky flanking maneuvers that you usually won’t do with soldiers.
